The 2007 international choral champion Madrigals are coming to town!
We are pleased to announce that our chapter is sponsoring the Sept. 29 (7PM) concert of the internationally-acclaimed Philippine Madrigal Singers, at the Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church located at 1801 Lacassie Ave. in Walnut Creek. The Madz, as they are fondly known, won the prestigious European Grand Prix for Choral Singing held last August 26, 2007 in Arezzo, Italy over reputable choirs such as Russia’s Vesna Children’s Choir, Hungary’s Cantemos Mixed Choir, Cuba’s Schola Cantorum Coralina and the Taipei Chamber Singers. The Madz’ Walnut Creek concert aims to raise funds to benefit the U.P. Professorial Chair program launched by U.P. President Emer Roman.
This project is being chaired by Henry Torres, himself a former Madrigal singer. His committee has already laid out the plans to make the event not only successful but fun as well. Posters and tickets were distributed at yesterday’s meeting at the Contra Costa Water District. For tickets ($20 regular and $50 patron), please contact Cherry Utleg @ 925.698.4614 and Ceny Duldulao @ 925.323.2639.
Come and enjoy the Madz on Sept. 29 — and help us raise funds for our alma mater’s faculty, too!
