UPAANC Berkeley chapter members, their family and friends are invited to see the upcoming art exhibit of one of our very members, Cota Deles-Yabut. No less than Consul General Rowena Sanchez is presenting the paintings (mostly watercolor) of Cota on opening night of Friday November 10, 2006 at the 5th floor of the Philippine Consulate. The dynamic Consul General took it upon herself to stage the exhibit after personally viewing Cota’s artistry. As the above poster shows, the exhibit is entitled “A Sense of Place and Space.” The exhibit will run through November 17 from 3 to 7pm after the opening night.
As some of us know, Cota is one of our chapter’s talented artists. Aside from painting, Cota is also involved with the theater and music, especially the kulintang and the rondalla. She is holding the exhibit in tandem with Noni Mendoza, who is also a U.P. alumnus (B.S. Architecture). The two artists are exhibiting sketches, watercolor and acrylic paintings of places they have visited. These include places like the Great Wall of China, Diamond Head, Kathmandu, Amsterdam and of course Philippine sites such as Baguio and Bohol. Each artist will be displaying about 20 of their artwork.
Leaders of the chapter will be attending the opening night to show their support to Cota. Light refreshments will be served during the 3-hour opening night. Cota is extending her invitation to include the diorama of Philippine national costumes on display also at the 6th floor of the Philippine Consulate.
Those who are planning to attend are requested to call Helen Comullo at 1.415.433.6666 x. 313 or 314 to confirm their attendance. So mark your calendars and see you there!
