UPAANC Berkeley chapter honoroary/associate member Winston Balingit passed on last Friday April 12, 2019 at the Stanford Hospital. Winston was found unconscious by two weeks prior and was rushed to Seton Hospital where he was in ICU. Winston was later transferred to Stanford Hospital where he could undergo advanced treatment; however, to no avail.
Winston was very active with the Berkeley chapter in choreographing and even performing in the numerous in-house cultural shows the association produced in the early to the mid-1990s. He began being active during the term of Minda Azarcon and continued on during the terms of Letty Figueroa, Norma Lacambra, Ceny Duldulao and Jay Castro. In particular, Winston was very involved in the production of “Ang Ganda Ng Ating Musika” and “Tanghalan” during the terms of Ceny and Jay, respectively. Beyond the chapter-sponsored cultural shows, Winston would be counted on to support the numerous activities like picnics and dinner-dances. Also, he was mentor to numerous children of chapter members who joined Kariktan Dance Troupe where Winston and Polly Herrera teamed-up to promote Filipino culture via numerous dance/musical shows.
Memorial services are scheduled as per above picture.
The Berkeley chapter extends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of Winton!
