Nov. 10, 2013 — The victorious UP Virata School of Business students who won the 2013 Google Online Marketing Challenge were treated by UPAANC Berkeley members Julie Hudson and Polly Cortez to a sumptuous dinner tonight. Lee (BSBAA V) and Erika Kathleen A. Uy (BSBAA V) — was in town as part of their prize in besting 2.453 teams which competed in the said contest. The UP VSP team was mentored by UP VSB Undergraduate Programs Director Prof. James Ryan O. Jonas, who also won a roundtrip ticket to San Francisco along with hotel, per diem, tablets, etc the team got as prize for topping the contest.
The competition involved developing and running an online advertising
campaign for a business or non-profit organization over a three-week period.
The UP VSB team launched an online marketing campaign for “Sun Cruises Philippines,” an actual business that provides ferry/tour services to and from Corregidor Island in Manila Bay. Amazingly, the team generated $22,500 worth of revenues for the company from a meager $250 budget provided by Google Adwords.
Congratulations to the UP VSB team!
