Dec. 6, 2009 — The induction of officers for the fiscal term 2009 – 2011 was held tonight in simple ceremonies at the Sunset Park Condominium in Walnut Creek. Philippine Consul Alfonso Ver, himself a University of the Philippines alumnus, was the event’s guest of honor and inducting officer. Inducted in as President was Selenna Franco-Cefre, BSBAA’84 alumna who was elected in November 4, 2009. Also inducted were the following: Daisy Rodriguez as 1st Vice President, Quinito Joaquin as 2nd Vice-President, Diosy Rey as Treasurer, Cherry Utleg as Auditor, Alexis Zulueta as Parliamentarian and Romi Beza as Chair of the Advisory Committee. Former chapter president Vangie Poe-Quesada and chapter stalwart Julie Hudson stood in as proxies for the indisposed Dee Faraon and Mira Linsey, Secretary and Assistant Secretary, respectively.
The small but animated gathering of U.P. alumni were treated to the usual sumptuous buffet prepared by the chapter officers. The induction ceremony later transitioned to the chapter’s holiday party. Selenna also made sure that the alumni had fun not only by staging fun parlor games but also giving away many raffle prizes. Chapter musician Ulysses Dumdum also entertained the crown with a medley of Christmas carols and Filipino songs.
